The purpose of this blog is to gather information on the each art movement that will be discussed in a lesson. This blog will analyse and compare including examples from my own visual culture on how each art movement impacted the 20th century.


Furthermore, the blog will discuss what each art movement means and what details it had during the time it was discovered.

At the end of each lesson, I am required to reflect on the art movement learnt by means of an online blog. The blog provides more information on each Art movement we learn in each lesson.

The blog will have information that could help understand the Art History better. It will benefit in knowing the difference between each movement and how they all impacted us differently, in the new generation of technology, and if the movements will carry on the influence for upcoming years.

The main focus is why the artefact was created in its time and who was it created for, and rather how did it have the impact of changing the way art is been seen in the early centuries.

Personally thinking, writing a blog will help me look further into each movement and learn how to further my knowledge on what is learnt in each lesson. The blog will also help when writing a final Art History movement essay for an exam.

    Thank you for your submission. You indicated that you have a clear understanding of the purpose of this blog. The addition of the list of movements we are going to cover provides the reader with a good indication of what to expect. You could have elaborated a little more on the benefits this exercise will have for you as a designer, not just related to studies. Please pay attention to your formatting, spelling and grammar. Art movements were not discovered. Discovered implies that something existed before it was found by humans. Art movements did not exist until we created them.

The style: 1917 Piet Mondrian and Theo Van Doesburg were the headers of De Stijl movement.  The Stijl( the style) is a Dutch movement that began in 1917 and lasted till 1931. The Glasgow Four

The Glasgow four consisted of four Scotish Stylist's: Charles Rennie Mackintosh James Herbert McNair Margaret Macdonald Frances Macdonald These Scotish artists mentioned above met at Glasgow School of Art and began exploring their different approaches of art together. The formed an informal creative alliance. They were all influenced by the works of Aubrey Beardsley And Jan Toorop. The four artists created a unique style of originality and symbolic complexity. They come up with a geometric style that was geometrically controlled almost perfect and aligned, with elements of a strong rectilinear structure. Pop Art

Began in the mid-1950s and ended approximately in the early 1970s. Pop art is an art movement invented by a British curator Lawrence Alloway, in 1955, pop art is a shorter way of saying “popular art”. This art movement was characterized by the imagery of consumerism and popular culture. Pop Art emerged in both New York and London during the mid-1950s. The movement was characterized by bold, simple everyday imagery and vibrant block colours, it was very interesting to look at and had a vibrant feel. The bright colour scheme that is used in Pop Art was to enable the formation of the avant-garde to emphasize certain elements of contemporary culture, and this helped to narrow the division between the commercial arts and the fine arts.
